In a recent survey, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingsherpa.com\/article\/chart\/customer-communication-by-channel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>72% of consumers<\/strong><\/a> prefer to be contacted by businesses through email.<\/p>\n<p>Before you start writing content for your next email campaign it&#8217;s important to have a sound strategy. Ask yourself the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why does the recipient care?<\/li>\n<li>How does this benefit me?<\/li>\n<li>And what do you want to happen?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Make Your Emails Worth Opening<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You probably agree that our inboxes are flooded with emails. In fact, the average business user receives <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.campaignmonitor.com\/resources\/knowledge-base\/how-many-emails-does-the-average-person-receive-per-day\/#:~:text=In%20fact%2C%20the%20number%20of,3%25%20each%20year%20until%202022.&amp;text=Keeping%20all%20this%20in%20mind,sent%20and%20received%20each%20day.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">121 emails per day<\/a><\/strong>. So, before you get email-happy, think about how your email communication can benefit your recipient. Whether it&#8217;s a download offer or an invite to an event, be sure to highlight the benefits that&#8217;ll make it worth their while.<\/p>\n<p>A strong subject line will accentuate the benefit they&#8217;re about to receive. Keep your email subject line short and sweet. There&#8217;s varying opinions,&nbsp; but a good rule of thumb is to keep the subject line a length of three to six words, and ideally no more than nine.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Make Your Emails Worth Sending<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Now that you have your reader\u2019s attention, how does that benefit you? Are you collecting information that helps you learn about them? Or, is it simply building your brand?<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re going to spend the time generating content and graphics, you want to be sure it&#8217;s helping your organization. The communication can benefit you by answering common questions which reduces inbound calls to your staff. If the email campaign is for an event, be sure that you&#8217;re collecting the proper information and directing your recipients to information that&#8217;ll make your event seamless.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Include a Call-to-Action in Your Emails<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Finally and most importantly, \u201cWhat do you want to happen?\u201d Every great email has a clear call-to-action (CTA). It&#8217;s often in the form of a colorful and unmistakable button to click on. Be sure not to bury your CTA in the content of the email. Place it \u201cabove-the-fold,\u201d meaning, don\u2019t make them scroll down for it. Don\u2019t be afraid to add some personality to your CTA button. Words like \u201cSubmit\u201d have the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.hubspot.com\/blog\/tabid\/6307\/bid\/6737\/Don-t-Submit-To-Landing-Page-Button-Text.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>poorest click-through rates<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the purpose of your email campaign is, be sure you&#8217;re taking into consideration your time and your recipient\u2019s time.
